RFUK - CONSULTANCY: Research on the Just Transition in the Democratic Republic of Congo

RFUK, in collaboration with its Congolese partners, is seeking a research consultant or team of consultants to produce a concise and informative ‘white paper’. This paper will be used in the context of a joint initiative to support civil society organisations in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in crafting a holistic vision for a just transition that balances economic viability, environmental sustainability, and social equity. The ideal candidate(s) will have expertise in just transition frameworks, a deep understanding of the DRC context, strong research and analytical skills, experience in stakeholder engagement, and proven ability in writing and communication. Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (Programme Roles)

Work effectively with the FCDO programme team in the UK and the regional, external contractors and regional colleagues to drive implementation of CBFA. Support co-design activities delivered by component 1 consortium, alongside working with the component 2 fund manager to appraise and oversee proposals. Monitor and assess risks and opportunities associated with the programme, reporting clearly to the programme team. Identify errors or problems, take action as necessary to resolve and/or notify others in the team. Write clear reports and briefings as required.

The Director heads the park management unit "La Coordination" together with the Deputy Director (ACFAP) and acts as Secretary to the Park Management Committee. They support the Deputy Park Director in supervising ACFAP/MEF (Ministry of Forest Economy) staff working in law enforcement. The Director is the principal supervisor of Park staff recruited to work in biomonitoring, tourism, infrastructure, financial management, logistics, and community development activities and collaborates with partners and stakeholders to achieve Park objectives. Under the supervision of the Conservation Director, the Project Manager's main mission is to coordinate and accelerate the implementation of the GBF-CLC Project. Facilitate the participation of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) within the TRIDOM (Tri National Dja-Odzala-Minkébé) Interzone Congo (ETIC) landscapes, in the revision of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) ensuring their rights and roles are recognized; and continue supporting the process towards the creation of the first community-led conservation area in Messok Dja.
