GLOBAL LAUNCH EVENT State and Trends in Adaptation Report 2022: Adaptation at the Core of a Prosperous Africa in an Uncertain and Warming World Thursday, 3rd November 2022, 13:00 CET, Virtual
The GCA State and Trends in Adaptation Report 2022 (STA22) completes the most comprehensive overview of the present and projected climate risks and adaptation solutions in Africa. STA22, the third in GCA’s series of annual flagship reports, maintains the dedicated focus on Africa from 2021 and expands its analysis. The report provides a deep dive into the economics and finance of climate change adaptation, with an additional focus on sectors, cross-sectoral themes and country profiles. It sets out the potential costs and benefits of adaptation interventions in Africa and includes new analysis on the impact of climate change on the private sector.
Ahead of the landmark COP27 climate summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, the global launch will be a hybrid press briefing, featuring in-person participation from GCA’s global headquarters in Rotterdam with high-level discussants joining live online, and a livestream broadcast for media and the public. With adaptation for vulnerable countries, including Africa, set to be at the heart of the discussions at COP27, the report sets out the challenges ahead while offering solutions available to policymakers, civil society, and investors.
